Potjiekos competition

We have been involved in several team building events, but our Potjiekos competition in October, hosted at Cellars Hohenort, was such a proud moment indeed!

For those of you who don't know what potjiekos is, it's a very traditional South African stew, slow cooked in a cast iron pot on the fire.

We hosted a competition for 65 corporates as a team-building event this month.

With the help of Zile de Kock from Marine Dynamics, the pantry table was beautifully decorated, and the produce the guests could choose from was typical of our fantastic fresh and organic produce in the Cape.

We did it 'Master Chef' style where the teams could choose their own ingredients from our pantry. The one's who got to choose first went for some of the lovely cuts of meat like the beef short rib and lamb knuckle.

Fresh herbs and spices came at a price, with allocated vouchers indicating how much every team could get.

With the fires burning and the wine flowing, the teams decorated their tables very inventively, whilst the beautiful smells of poitjiekos drifted through the forests of Table Mountain.

Being the judges was of course the best job in town. Other than one or two slightly burnt or over-cooked poitjie's, we were actually very impressed with the results.

After the winning team was announced everyone could feast to their hearts delight!

We must admit, it was truly a festive, fun team building day!
